CANADIAN NATIONALS - ANGIE WARK TAKES SECOND PLACE June 11, 2008

Manitoba is very proud of Angie Wark for achieving second place in the Ladies Singles event at the Canadian Nationals. In the semi finals, on stage, she defeated Patricia Farrell from Newfoundland in a best of five by taking out 84, 2, and 5. That win took Angie to the ladies final she but couldn’t get past Robin Curry from Ontario despite throwing some outstanding darts. Angie has done Manitoba proud in the 2008 Canadian Nationals.

On June 4, 2008 the MDAI was invited by CityTV to appear on Breakfast Television to talk about the upcoming Nationals. Our president, Gerry Convery, obliged them and dragged me along to throw some darts and answer any questions the host may throw my way. Here's the video - its 5 minutes long. And before you ask - no my darts do not weigh a pound and a half.

NATIONALS QUESTION June 2, 2008

In view of the Nationals being in Winnipeg here's a good question to test your dart knowledge.

It's the final of the Singles event at the Canadian Nationals and it's the deciding leg. The match is being played on stage and you are the caller and referee. Player A scores 100 to leave 40. Player B steps up requiring 53. The 1st dart hits single 13. The 2nd dart misses the double and scores zero. The 3rd dart hits the double 20. You call out "Game Shot and the Match". Player B all excited, jumps up and down, and both players shake hands. As player B walks towards the board the dart in the double 20 falls out. What do you do?

A. Because you called "Game Shot" and you are the referee the result stands.
B. Consult with the N.D.F.C. Executive
C. Wished you hadn't volunteered to call the match.
D. Calmly announce "13 scored. Player A, you require 40".

MDAI INFORMATION BOOTH April 12, 2008

The MDAI set up an informational booth at Garden City Shopping Centre on April 12, 2008. We had dart videos playing all day, information pamphlets, photos, tournament posters, darts and a dartboard. We were even able to get a couple of new members to sign up just from seeing us there and chatting. Lots of people stopped by to see what the darting action was all about and many questions were asked about our sport. There were about ten members who showed up throughout the day to help at the booth and that was great to see. A special thank you goes out to Alex Austria for setting up the whole thing. It was great exposure for the Association and we will be doing it again.

CONGRATULATIONS March 20, 2008

THANK YOU TO ANGIE WARK November 15, 2007

On behalf of the Board of Directors as well as the Membership we would like to take this opportunity to thank Angie Wark for all the work she has done as Publicity Director for the past few years.

We have watched as this quiet woman followed in her mother's footsteps and decided to join our association as a player. She not only obviously enjoyed the sport but she showed a drive and passion for the game to become successful at it as well. After a few years of playing Angie chose to give back as well, and we were lucky enough to add her to our Board of Directors. She was a terrific addition to the Board because she was not afraid to express any concerns or ideas that would benefit the players.

She re-vamped our website as well as our newsletter to make it what it is today but also built and maintained a database where members of our association were kept up to date on relevant news.

Words cannot express how grateful we are for everything you have given but we can say Thank You Angie, for everything you have given. Cheers!!
