As part of an ongoing effort by the MDAI to build membership and support for all of our outlying zones, the MDAI has decided to revitalize the opportunity for all zones in the province to bid on and host the Provinical Playdowns. Each year bids will be accepted at the Provincial Playdowns for the next year. There is certain criteria that must be met in order to host, and if all requirements are met, the Board of Directors holds a vote on bids submitted. (Critera example would be that area of play will hold required number of boards, etc.) If your zone is interested in hosting this event a bid must be submitted to Lisa Loe at lloe37@yahoo.com |

Provincial Director Report - 2012 Nationals
| This years Team Manitoba did an outstanding job and did Manitoba proud. For the first time ever the Men won Gold in the Nodor Cup it was a sight to see the men played their hearts out and stood victorious at the end! Job Well Done! |

Team Results:
Ladies Doubles this year we got 10 points, no teams out, last year we had 14 and 1 team out.
Men's Doubles this year we got 29 points and 3 teams out and 1 team lost in a play off to get out of their division last year we got 20 points and 1 team out. Scott & Edward, Lorne & Dave were Jnt 9th and Terry & Ron were Jnt 5th. A excellent job this year in the Men's Doubles. Way to go guys!
Ladies Singles we got 15 points and no one out, last year we got 23 points and 2 out.
Men's Singles we got 40 points and 1 out, last year we got 35 points and 2 out. Rory Orvis came Jnt 9th.
Mixed doubles we got 35 points and 1 team out, last year we got 33 points and no one out. Edward & Denise came Jnt 3rd outstanding job! They received plaques at the banquet.

Team Manitoba moved up 1 spot to 9th place, but we were only 8 points out of 7th place an excellent job by the team.
The Americas Cup is in Belize July 19th July 24th
BDO World Masters is on October 10 14th in Hull England.
For the World Cup in 2013 the NDFC is looking for volunteers.
In 2015 the World Cup will now have 4 men and 4 women to be held in Turkey.
Nationals for 2013 will be held in St. Johns, Newfoundland, 2014 will be Nova Scotia and for 2015 there are 2 bids in they are Quebec and Ontario.
It was a great week and Team Manitoba did an outstanding job as a Team. I was proud to be their Provincial Director!

2012 Adult Provincials
Dear Qualifiers:
Congratulations on playing in the March 9, 10, 11, 2012 MDAI Provincials. The Provincials will be played in Winnipeg at #30 West Kildonan Legion.
THE TIMINGS FOR REGISTRATION FOR THE PROVINCIALS FOR MEN & WOMEN ARE:
FRIDAY, March 9,2012
Registration 9:00 a.m. 9:30 a.m. play at 10:00 a.m.
SATURDAY, March 10, 2012
Registration 8:30 a.m. 9:00 a.m. Play at 9:30 a.m.
SUNDAY March 11, 2012
AGM and right after AGM will be any unfinished rounds and the knock out round.
This year there will be a Mandatory Banquet being held on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. cost for the banquet ticket is $25.00 a person and dress is semi-formal, NO JEANS.
Dress Code is in effect Dress Pants and Shirt with Collar (eg: polo shirt). No Jeans, Cords, Rugby Pants, Spandex, Stirrup Pants, Cargo Pants and Sweats etc. Proper footwear must be worn, no open toed or open back shoes.
The format for the Provincials will be best out of 5.
There is no longer any designated times for smoke breaks. It is the player's responsibility to be at matches within the allocated 5 minute rule or risk elimination. This will be watched very closely.
If you are unable to make the provincials the deadline for drop outs is February 28th, 2012. You must send me an email or mail me a letter in writing.
If you do not send a letter by the 28th that you have dropped out then your name will be forwarded to the Disciplinary Board.

Provincial Director Report
This year's Nationals was held in Edmonton. Team Manitoba did an outstanding job I was very proud of each and everyone one of the team. They were amazing!
I attended the AGM we discussed the following:
Nationals will be held :
2012 Thunder Bay
2013 St. John's, Newfoundland
2014 Nova Scotia
I put a bid to host for 2015 against Quebec and Ontario.
Next year's Nationals we will be staying in the Travel Lodge, the price is $99 + HST = $112, all rooms are booked through the PD's, there will be free shuttle and a Hospitality room all week, we are playing at the Delanie Arena and the Banquet ticket right now is $35.00.
I have the new NDFC rule books, they charged $2.00 a book only if you purchased them at the Nationals, after the Nationals it will cost $5.00 a book. I purchased 30 books.
There is a rule change - the one 3 minute call has been changed to one 5 minute call.
World Masters is Sept 18-26th and the BDO Masters is October 28th - 30th.
The Sport Recognition Application will be given to the lawyers in October and then handed in, then we wait to find out if we will become a sport.
In 2013 the World Cup is being held in St. Johns, Newfoundland if they make $50,000 for the next 10 yrs every province hosting the Nationals will get a extra $5,000 towards their Nationals.
All ranked tournaments that do not use Nodor boards, their ranking will be cancelled. The sponsor saw pictures of tournaments on the internet not using Nodor boards and is not happy.
There will be a PD meeting in January held in Toronto.
From now on all teams at the Nationals do not have to wear membership cards anymore they just have to show them before each event.

 A few dart players have asked me Stuart, what are the Nationals and what is it like?
The Canadian Nationals is the most prestigious darts event held in Canada. Believe it or not, you are not competing for a $5,000.00 cheque, you are playing for the right to be recognized as the Canadian Champion and representing your home Province as a team rather than being an individual. Yes, there are other things that come with it like representing Canada or getting invited to the World Masters but for me its competing against players from all over Canada and in some cases developing great friendships. Believe me, once you make Team Manitoba for the first time and walk into a venue with 100 dartboards set up its an experience you will never forget. Ive been fortunate to play in nine previous Nationals and, sure, the novelty wears off a little bit but I guarantee you that Tuesday morning when you march in as a team with all the other Provinces and Territories then you will find yourself standing straighter and having that extra spring in your step. If you make it on to the Team, savor the moment, enjoy the week, make friends, show and earn respect and play your best. Though you may not think it you might just hear others saying I wish our team enjoyed themselves as much as Team Manitoba does.
